Fortissimo rolls with India's 'Road Movie'

Will handle international sales for comedy-drama

More Cannes coverage

CANNES -- In a rare example of an Indian title being picked up by a foreign sales company, "Road Movie," the comedy-drama produced by "Lost in Translation" producer Ross Katz and Susan Landau, has been picked up for international sales by Fortissimo Films.

The picture, which falls somewhere between "Cinema Paradiso" and "Little Miss Sunshine," features a young man who has three days to carry a creaky film projector through the Indian countryside and collects an eccentric group of stragglers on his journey.

The film's writer-director is Dev Benegal ("Split Wide Open"). It stars Abhay Deol, Tannishtha Chatterjee and star Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik.

The picture was fully financed by The Indian Film Co.-Studio18.
