Fox casts two key pilot roles

Valley toplines 'Human Target'; Hahn stars in 'Absolutely Fabulous'

Mark Valley has been tapped as the lead in Fox's drama pilot "Human Target" for director Simon West, and Kathryn Hahn has been tapped to star in Fox's comedy pilot "Absolutely Fabulous."

On the pilot pickup front, NBC has ordered the comedy "Community," and ABC has greenlighted the comedy "No Heroics."

"Target," from WBTV, DC Comics and McG's Wonderland, is based on the DC Comics title and centers on Christopher Chance (Valley), a mysterious security freelancer who assumes the identities of those in danger, becoming the "human target" for his clients.

Endeavor-repped Valley recurred this season on another Fox/WBTV drama series, "Fringe."

"Ab Fab," from Sony, BBC Worldwide and Tantamount, is based on the British series and revolves around best friends Eddie (Hahn) and Patsy (Kristen Johnston), two trend-obsessed, booze-swilling middle-aged women clinging to their youth.

Hahn's casting stems from her talent deal with Fox. The Gersh-repped actress appeared recently in "Revolutionary Road."

"Community," from Sony TV and Krasnoff Foster Entertainment, is described as "Stripes" set in a community college.

Dan Harmon ("The Sarah Silverman Program") penned the script and is executive producing with former Sony TV programming chief-turned-producer Russ Krasnoff.

"Community" marks the first pilot from an outside supplier picked by NBC after its December merger with sister studio Universal Media Studios.

Written by "Will & Grace" alum Jeff Greenstein and original show creator Drew Pearce, the ABC Studios-produced "Heroics" is about a group of superheroes with less than formidable powers who hang out at a bar.

The ICM-repped Greenstein and Pearce are exec producing with Andrew Zein of Tiger Aspect, which produces the British series for ITV. (partialdiff)
