Fox changes fall premiere plans

Network to begin airing shows Sept. 1

Fox is shifting its fall premiere plans.

The network is going one week later than previously announced, launching its shows with a two-hour "Prison Break" on Sept. 1 instead of Aug. 25 as planned.

The network's series lineup is unchanged.

With the NBC's presentation of the Summer Olympics concluding in late August, networks toyed with the idea of launching early to take advantage of presumably higher audience viewing levels. Fox announced at its upfront presentation it would roll out in late August, just as the network has done the past couple years.

With competitors announcing that most of their shows will debut in late September, Fox has now shifted its plans and declined to comment further.

Here's the fall 2008-09 broadcast television schedule.
