Fox, National Geographic Launching Spanish Network

New channel Nat Geo Mundo will debut July 1.

News Corps.' Fox Networks and National Geographic are launching a Spanish-language channel, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Nat Geo Mundo will debut July 1 with content from the National Geographic Channel in Latin America, Spanish versions of U.S.' National Geographic Channel and original programming.

News Corp. and National Geographic Ventures also owns the Nat Geo Wild channel.

“Nat Geo Mundo will seek to inspire U.S. Latino families in their pursuit of prosperity, by expanding their horizons through entertainment about the world that surrounds them,” said Hernan Lopez, president and CEO of Fox International Channels.

Lopez will oversee Nat Geo Mundo.

The Times also reports that Fox is creating Fox Hispanic Media unit to sell and market its Spanish-language channels (Nat Geo Mundo, Fox Desportes and Utilisima).
