Fox Research Head Will Somers Upped to Exec VP
The longtime analytics exec has been with the network since 2000.
Fox Broadcasting Company has further elevated research topper Will Somers. The 16-year veteran of the Big Four network was named executive vp and head of research on Wednesday.
“As the industry faces dramatic shifts in consumers’ viewing habits, Will has played an important role in helping shape Fox's multiplatform strategy,” said FBC chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman. “His ability to thoroughly analyze complex audience data and marketplace trends will keep our company focused and strongly positioned for success.”
Somers has been part of the evolving ratings narrative at Fox, which mostly turned its back on Nielsen's live-plus-same-day returns in 2015 in favor of more comprehensive stats.
Somers has been with Fox since 2000. He will continue to oversee national, local and multiplatform ratings analysis as metrics further shift from linear viewing. Somers also will collaborate with programming to support and advise producers with program research for digital and social analytics across the network. He previously served as senior vp research.
Somers started out in audience and program research for the Walt Disney Company’s Buena Vista Television syndication and Touchstone Television studio.
