The bi-annual event, sponsored this year by Scottish network STV, will be held a week before the Scottish referendum on independence from Great Britain. The subject of the conference will be “Power, Politics and the Media.”

In addition to the international attendees, the RTS event will include a who's who of the British television scene, with speakers such as BBC director general Tony Hall, BSkyB chief executive Jeremy Darroch and Kevin Lygo, managing director of ITV Studios.

In a series of industry sessions, the speakers and attendees will explore issues such as the future for the BBC, which is facing a renewal of its broadcast charter in 2016, the recent wave of cross-Atlantic mergers in the broadcast business and the challenge of online competitors to broadcast players.
