'Freak' off to sluggish start for Comedy

"South Park" still is potent a decade into its run, but not enough to give Comedy Central's new series "Freak Show" a lift. "Park" opened the second half of its 10th season at 10 p.m. Wednesday with a healthy haul of 3.4 million viewers and 2.3 million in the 18-49 demographic. It was the series' biggest midseason launch since 2000. But "Freak" failed to retain much of its "Park" lead-in at 10:30 p.m. Only 1.5 million viewers stuck around, less than half of what "Park" attracted. Comedy Central has used the post-"Park" slot to launch a long list of series, including "Drawn Together."
