Fremantle adds Germany to Newton's plate

MUNICH -- Mark Newton, executive vp at global TV licensing giant FremantleMedia Enterprises, will add the company's German licensing business to his portfolio as of July 1, FME said Thursday.

He replaces Birgit Hoensch, who is departing FME to take over RTL Enterprises (HR 6/12). FremantleMedia, which produces such formats as the "Idol" franchise and "The Price Is Right" as well as numerous comedies, dramas and telefilms, is a fully owned subsidiary of RTL, Europe's biggest broadcaster. FME is the licensing and marketing division of FremantleMedia.

Newton will remain based in Hilversum and report to Olivier Gers, FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide's general manager.

Also announced Thursday was the promotion of Diana Dieckmann to the newly created position of vp licensing for Germany, Eastern, Central and Southern Europe. She will manage the company's Potsdam office. Dieckmann will report to Newton.
