Fremantle Media To Acquire Control Of Canadian Games Developer

Upping its stake in video game producer Ludia from 29% to 80%

TORONTO -- Fremantle Media has raised its holding in the Montreal-based video game producer Ludia to a majority stake.

The "X Factor" producer will add to its current 29% stake with an additional 51% slice to take its ownership to 80%.

"Interactive gaming is an important way for Fremantle Media to diversify and this will increase our expertise and capability in this area, allowing both companies to develop even more successful consumer-facing entertainment across multiple platforms," Tony Cohen, chief executive of Fremantle Media, said in a statement.

Ludia founder and president Alex Thabet and his senior management team are expected to remain with the spin-off games developer after Fremantle Media takes control.
