Fremantle restructures staffing in Asia Pacific

LONDON -- FremantleMedia has restructured its Asia Pacific personnel in an indication of the region's increasing significance, FremantleMedia Enterprises CEO David Ellender said Monday.

The distributor of such brands as "American Idol" and "Project Runway" said that Paul Ridley has been promoted to senior vp sales, Asia Pacific from his current role of vp sales. Based in FME's Sydney office, he will be responsible for television distribution across the region and report to David Ellender.

Ganesh Rajaram, currently sales director, Asia, has been elevated to the newly created position of vp sales, Asia. He will continue to be based in FME's Singapore office and, as before, report to Paul Ridley.

In FME's ancillary rights business, Jon Penn has been promoted to senior vp licensing, Asia Pacific. In this position, he will oversee the exploitation of FME brands off-screen including brand licensing, music publishing, participation TV, online, interactive, sponsorship, live events and telephony across Asia Pacific. Penn will continue to be based in Sydney and will report to David Ellender.

"These promotions are very well deserved and follow a period of tremendous growth across the Asia Pacific region for FME," said Ellender.

"Our business has grown not just in established markets but also in several new territories, consolidating FME's position as one of the biggest players in content distribution and licensing in Asia Pacific. I would like to congratulate Paul, Ganesh and Jon and look forward to working closely with them to further develop the business in this key region."
