Fremantle taps quartet for Asia


SYDNEY -- Fremantle Media Enterprises is looking to boost its ancillary rights and licensing business in the Asia Pacific region with four new appointments in Australia and Singapore, FME Asia Pacific vp Jon Penn said in a statement Monday.

The company is creating the new position of director, sponsorship and interactive, which will be taken up by former MTV Networks Asia digital media manager Malti Peplow.

Peplow's brief is wide -- she'll be responsible for developing and exploiting consumer products, telephony and voting, live events, interactive and wireless applications and sponsorship of FME brands across the region including "Indonesian Idol," "Singapore Idol," "Indian Idol," "The Price Is Right," "Family Feud" and "The Mission."

She's also been charged with the development and rollout of advertiser-funded TV and digital programs, participation TV and establishing a gaming and lottery licensing business in the region.

Peplow will be based in Singapore but report to Penn, who is based in Sydney.

Also in Sydney, Ben Liebmann has been appointed to the newly created position of vp of Australia and New Zealand, overseeing FME's brand licensing, sponsorship, interactive and mobile businesses in those markets.

Liebmann, who comes to FME from Opera Interactive, will report to Penn.

Joining Liebmann will be Olivia Arnold, who has been promoted to manager, licensing & sponsorship, Australia & New Zealand, and Emma Gordon, who has been promoted to editor of and will handle intentional publicity for the Australian soap, which was recently acquired by the U.K.'s Five channel.
