The Fremantle executive is promoted from running its U.S. operation -- which includes "American Idol" -- to CEO of the entire $2 billion global television company.

Currently CFO at BBC Worldwide, he will start in March and report to Fremantle CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz.

RTL Group's FremantleMedia on Monday said it has named Andrew Bott CFO, effective in March.

Based in London, he will report to CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz and be responsible for all financial reporting and controlling, as well as corporate financial strategy and risk management. He will also provide finance expertise and support for all M&A activity.

Bott will join FremantleMedia from BBC Worldwide where he is currently serving as CFO.

Before that, he worked in New York as CFO for BBC Worldwide’s North American arm where he oversaw finance aspects of the launch and expansion of BBC Worldwide’s L.A.-based production business and the growth of the BBC America network. Bott also previously held positions at Pearson and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Said Frot-Coutaz: "Andrew has a long and proven track-record in delivering outstanding results, driving high-performance and optimizing efficiency within global media businesses. He combines strong financial and strategic decision-making with a collaborative approach to deliver successful new businesses and develop exciting new partnerships."

Said Bott: "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join Cecile and the FremantleMedia team as group CFO. FremantleMedia has some exciting plans to further its strategic ambitions, and I look forward to applying my experience of building efficient and effective businesses to help optimize their value and impact."
