French mobile TV channels chosen

CSA includes France Television's public stations

PARIS -- French film and television supervisory board the CSA on Tuesday announced the 13 private channels chosen for the country's personal mobile television platform (TMP).

French mobile TV, available to consumers through a digital terrestrial television platform, will feature public network France Television's three stations in addition to the private channels chosen for the 13 remaining spots after a fierce application process.

The CSA leafed through 36 applicants to choose the final group of TMP channels, which include Canal Plus and the group's subsidiary cable network i-tele, M6, BFM TV, Direct 8 Mobile, EuropaCorp. TV, Eurosport, NRJ 12, NT1, Orange Sport TV, TF, Virgin 17 and W9.

The CSA in November had pledged to make mobile TV available throughout the country by the end of 2008.
