Fruit on L.A. 'Don't Look' remake

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong director Fruit Chan ("Dumplings") will remake Hideo Nakata's "Don't Look Up" starting in April in Los Angeles with Distant Horizon producing behind a cast including Kevin Corrigan ("American Gangster").

Shooting is set to begin April 14 on the redo of Nakata's tale of a film crew that slowly goes insane via evil spirits released from celluloid discovered in an abandoned movie studio.

Poon Hang Sang will serve as cinematographer and special effects will be provided by Leonard MacDonald and the Creature Effects team ("300," "I Am Legend").

Nakata's original participated in last year's Pusan International Film Festival's Pusan Promotional Plan Development Conference.

Anant Singh and Brian Cox of Distant Horizon will produce, along with Yoko Asakura of Action 5.
