Furtado tapped to host Junos

TORONTO -- Canadian rock singer and actress Nelly Furtado will host the 2007 Junos, Canada's music awards, organizers announced Tuesday.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences said Furtado will headline the 64th installment of the Junos, which are set to air live on the CTV network from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Victoria, British Columbia-born Furtado proved a breakout success with her 2000 debut album "Whoa, Nelly!" before shooting up the charts again last year with her third album, "Loose."

Furtado's star turn on the Junos telecast comes as she gets set to co-star on "CSI: New York" and make an appearance on the daytime soap "One Life to Live."

Juno nominations will be announced Feb. 6.
