FX's John Landgraf to head Prism panel

Exec will chair group that helps supervise awards

FX Network president John Landgraf on Tuesday was named chairman of an honorary committee that helps supervise the annual Prism Awards.

He succeeds Fox Networks Group chairman Tony Vinciquerra, who led the Prism panel the past two years. Presented by the nonprofit Entertainment Industries Council, the Prisms honor film and TV productions that advance public awareness of substance-abuse and mental-health issues.

The EIC will present the next Prism Awards on April 23 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. FX will broadcast the ceremony Sept. 26 as part of National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month.

In his Prism post, Landgraf will help recruit committee members and simulcast partners for the show. Six networks joined FX in a simulcast of last year's Prism ceremony.

"It's a privilege for me to serve the Prism Awards in this capacity, and I'm thankful to the Entertainment Industries Council for the opportunity," Landgraf said. "FX has aired the awards since 2003, and we are proud to continue to do so in order to bring much-needed awareness of the issues that concern us all. I look forward to securing new members of the honorary committee in addition to more cable airing partners."

An unchaired 80-member committee oversees the Prisms' nomination process. The panel includes entertainment industry representatives and members of the health and academic fields.
