Gary Ginsberg named TW exec vp

Former News Corp. exec will report to Jeff Bewkes

NEW YORK -- Time Warner made it official Thursday, naming former News Corp. communications and marketing executive Gary Ginsberg to the post of executive vp, effective April 1.

In the newly created role, Ginsberg -- a Rupert Murdoch confidant -- will work with the conglomerate's senior management team on a wide range of corporate matters, including overseeing marketing, public affairs and communications efforts. The role is similar to the one he held at News Corp. until the end of last year. Ginsberg will report to TW chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes.

"Gary has a great reputation in our industry as a trusted corporate advisor," said Bewkes. "I welcome his strategic counsel and plan to take immediate advantage of his vast experience. Gary joins us at an important time as we continue to transform Time Warner to focus on creating high-quality, popular entertainment and journalism content for audiences around the globe."

From 1999 until 2009, Mr. Ginsberg was executive vp at News Corp. Before that, he was a managing director at the New York-based strategic consulting firm of Clark & Weinstock, as well as a senior editor and counsel of George, the defunct monthly political magazine, and an assistant counsel to President Clinton.
