GEG backs Stone's 'W'

Joins Emperor, Aramid, QED as producers

HONG KONG -- Global Entertainment Group will join Hong Kong-based Emperor Motion Pictures, U.K-based Aramid and QED to invest in Oliver Stone's Bush biopic "W,” the company announced Tuesday.

This will be the beginning of a deal-by-deal, co-financing agreement between GEG and Hollywood-based financing and production company QED, GEG CEO Johnny Hon told the THR. Hon will be one of the executive producers of the film along with Emperor chairman Albert Yeung, QED's Bill Block, Elliot Ferwerda and Paul Hanson, veterans Jon Kilik and Eric Kopeloff and Teresa Cheung.

The film is scheduled to be released by Lionsgate on October 17, 2008, just prior to the U.S. presidential election, GEG said.

GEG will push for two Hong Kong actresses, Maria Chen and Elena Kong, signed under its talent management subsidiary Morpheus Entertainment Management, for roles in "W,” but the decision lies with director Stone, Hon said.
