Geike Warners' man in Germany

BERLIN -- Willi Geike, head of German theatrical operations for Warner Bros., has been promoted to president and managing director of Warner Bros. Entertainment Germany and Austria.

Geike's elevation was announced Thursday by Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry M. Meyer, president and chief operating officer Alan F. Horn and executive vp international Richard Fox.

In his new position, Geike will be responsible for all of Warner's activities in Germany and Austria, from theatrical production and distribution to home video, marketing, TV distribution and consumer products.

In a separate corporate shuffle, Christof Wahl, head of German cable giant Kabel Deutschland (KDG). has resigned and will be replaced by Adrian von Hammerstein, currently a top executive with electronics group Siemens. T

he move was expected after private equity group Providence, which controls a 95% stake in KDG, expressed disappointment with the company's sluggish growth.

Von Hammerstein will have the difficult job of trying to expand KDG's nascent telephony business in the highly competitive German market.
