Gemstar-TV Guide gets new digs
EmptyNEW YORK - Farewell Rupert. Hello Martha.
Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. is set to move its Big Apple operations out of the headquarters of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., which controls a 42% stake in the company, in mid-December, according to the company.
Gemstar, which said earlier this week it would explore a sale and other strategic options, has signed a multi-year lease in another midtown Manhattan building whose current tenants include Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.
Gemstar's New York staff, which currently amounts to about 280 emloyees, will occupy three floors, or more than 85,000 square feet, at 11 West 42nd Street, across from Bryant Park.
The office space will house the New York operations of the LA-based company, including TV Guide magazine's editorial department, TV Guide Online and the primary advertising sales staff for the company.
The new office space includes the entire 16th and 17th floors of the West 42nd Street building and part of the 18th floor.
"We're excited to be relocating our New York offices to a classic building across from Bryant Park," said Gemstar CEO Rich Battista. "Our space in this building, its configuration and our plans for its design will help us to fulfill our mission of being a truly collaborative, cross-platform next generation guidance company."
