The greatest magician of the ‘60s is about to make a long-awaited comeback. Heat Vision can exclusively reveal that 2000 AD will reprint the fan-favorite Luke Kirby series — about a boy destined for magical greatness published a decade before J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter book hit shelves — early next year.
Described by the publisher as “Cider With Rosie meets Harry Potter via John Wyndham and Alan Garner,” The Journal of Luke Kirby follows a young English boy in 1960s England who has to come to terms with not only adolescence, but his potential for becoming the greatest alchemist in the world.
The series ran in the pages of 2000 AD from 1988 through 1995, and features work by a number of well-respected British creators, including John Ridgeway, Steve Parkhouse and creator/writer Alan McKenzie.
The Journal of Luke Kirby will be the first time the series has been collected in its entirety, with only the first installment, 1988’s Summer Magic, having ever been reprinted before. The new paperback collection will be released in May.
