A 20th Century Fox film and TV-inspired theme park is headed to Dubai as the Hollywood studio follows Disney and Universal and goes deeper into destination entertainment.
Fox on Tuesday unveiled a licensing deal with Al Ahli Holding Group (AAHG) for a Fox-branded theme park and resort, 20th Century Fox World Dubai, to open in 2018. The studio’s second theme park after it broke ground on a first attraction in Malaysia will include rides and attractions based on Fox properties, including Ice Age, Rio, Planet of the Apes, Aliens, Night at the Museum, Titanic, The Simpsons and Sons of Anarchy.
The Dubai development will include extensive retail and a first-ever Fox-themed resort hotel, with design and production services provided by Rethink Leisure & Entertainment. The Middle East theme park deal with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products allows for a rollout of up to three additional Fox-branded resorts in territories outside Dubai.
“Fox World will be a world-class destination that will help fuel Dubai’s emergence as a global tourism destination,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, in a statement. Fox’s partner in the venture, Al Ahli Holding Group, is a Dubai-based real estate developer that also has a live entertainment division.
