20th TV Shakeup: Chloe Dan Upped, Brandon Brito Out

The game of musical chairs continues at Twentieth Century Fox TV Studios.

Less than a year after being named senior vp drama development, Brandon Brito is out and Chloe Dan has been tapped to lead the department. In her new role, she will report to executive vp development Michael Thorn. The move, which comes just a day before sister network Fox presents its new wares to Hollywood, is effective immediately.

“Chloe is an extraordinarily gifted creative exec who has contributed mightily to our drama development over the past several years,” Thorn said Sunday in a statement. “While she had more than earned a promotion, we felt the time had come to channel her passion and skills into a leadership role at this company.”

Dan has been with the studio since 2014, and most recently developed Fox’s Marvel project The Gifted as well as Amy Holden Jones and Antoine Fuqua’s The Resident and Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville. The season prior, she developed This Is Us, which became broadcast’s top-rated drama and, just as impressively, a rare critical darling among network dramas.

Before joining 20th, Dan spent time at DreamWorks Studios, where she worked on The Delivery Man starring Vince Vaughn. She also helped oversee I Love You, Man; The Lovely Bones; and Dreamgirls. The Emory grad, who was part of The Hollywood Reporter‘s Next Gen class of 2010, began her career at Warner Bros. Studios.

For his part, Brito, who previously had been at cable arm Fox 21 (now Fox 21 TV Studios), had been upped to senior vp at 20th in July 2016. That promotion followed the departure of veteran Lisa Katz, who had opted to leave at the end of her contract. Per the studio release, Brito will now explore other opportunities.
