Lady Gaga has seriously mixed up her style quotient, taming the wild platinum and performance makeup with brown roots and a (somewhat) refined makeunder. Along with the changes, she’s been embracing a wide variety of single-sole (i.e. non-platform) footwear looks for everyday wear, from Jerome C. Rousseau’s thorn-heeled pumps to the Sophia Webster single-sole “Mollie” stilettos she was snapped in this week heading into her New York apartment. The four-inch leopard pony with silver speckle, black patent ankle strap and mirror pin heel from Webster definitely signals a more artisan approach. “I thoroughly enjoy the artistic process involved in the design of each shoe,” the London-based designer tells Pret-a-Reporter. “So it is very exciting to see an innovative woman such as Lady Gaga wearing Sophia Webster.”

Hello, gams! Minnie Driver showed off her strong, lean legs in a body-con, laser-cut, black-and-orange Mara Hoffman mini at the Television Academy’s 66th Emmy Awards Performers Peer Group Celebration event at the Montage on Monday, styling it with a pair of bright royal blue suede, three-and-a-half-inch-high DKNY “Lidia” stilettos. This playful sartorial footwear choice was spot-on, and Driver looked very much the A-lister that she is, while showing that true style doesn’t have to be expensive. Making waves recently for her Emmy-worthy, heart-wrenching performance in Lifetime’s Return to Zero and her role in NBC’s About a Boy, we’re glad to see Driver thriving and rocking out — on both the career and fashion front.

Dita von Teese showed off a fresh interpretation of her signature pinup style at her annual garden party in Malibu on Sunday. Wearing a Catherine Malandrino maxi in soft green, she paired the relaxed silhouette with a structured red bra from her Von Follies lingerie collection for a brightly colored beachy moment. Tossing her usual stilettos aside for the occasion, she donned a pair of Christian Louboutin “Athena” flat sandals in black, python and silver metallic T-straps. Von Teese, known for being one of Louboutin’s muses, has worked with the footwear genius on designing all of her shoes for her shows throughout the last decade — from custom-made pointe shoes to Swarovski-encrusted stilettos — that has created a new red-soled standard for burlesque dancers across the globe. “I almost always wear Christian Louboutin shoes, as Christian is a longtime friend and collaborator,” says the famous pinup girl.

Alicia Quarles (Photo credit: Associated Press)
Alicia Quarles has been upping both her career and fashion status with some bold moves. The New York-based correspondent for E! News weeknights, makes the rounds on the red carpet and seems to nail it every time with a mix of classic and dramatic looks that garner her attention from The New York Times and Vogue. Attending the Jazz at Lincoln Center Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek Live! event Tuesday, Quarles dressed to make an impression on Gaga herself — and that she did. Pairing a bright orange Millin dress with bright metallic pink and green spectator cap-toe stilettos from Ursula Mascaro, Quarles cited both the high-impact design as well as the comfort factor. She explains: “Most people would not pair a bright orange dress with such bright shoes, but the point of fashion is to take risks, have fun and in my case make sure my feet are not dying by the end of the night. Ursula’s shoes have extra padding so you could literally run in them (trust me, I’ve done it), and feel no pain.” Quarles is a big fan of the brand for the old-world, high-quality Spanish craftsmanship and notes, “You can skimp on everything else, but never, ever the quality of your shoes.”

Kelly Osbourne (Photo credit: Brian Dowling/Invision/AP)
Kelly Osbourne, co-host of E!’s Fashion Police, hosted the Young Hollywood Awards Sunday with her usual panache and witty banter. For her arrival ensemble, she paired a black-and-white geometric minidress from Israeli designer Dodo Bar Or with a simple pair of black suede Barneys pumps. These made-in-Italy, three-and-a-quarter-inch stilettos were the perfect choice with the fierce and funky minidress, grounding the ensemble in a classic silhouette. As Osbourne puts it: “I just thought these shoes would f—king rock with the amazing dress. And they were comfortable!” Who says you can’t have a little comfort with your rock ‘n’ roll style?
