Awards season is almost here (we can’t believe it, either), but first, a look at the Golden Globe nominations, which were announced early Thursday morning. From Brie Larson (who is nominated for her performance in Room) to Regina King (nominated for her role in American Crime), here are the six actresses we’re excited to see hit the red carpet come Jan. 10.
The Room actress may not agree with being called an “It girl,” but one thing’s for sure — she’s got a sophisticated style that can’t be missed at film premieres and fancy affairs. Typically opting for monochromatic outfits (and the occasional embellished ensemble), Larson is all about that no-fuss, graceful elegance on the carpet.

Unlike her colorfully dressed Empire character, Cookie, the actress — nominated for best performance by an actress in a TV drama series — tends to choose sleek LBDs (little and long black dresses). Perhaps we’ll see her in another custom Alexander Wang creation? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
The Carol-nominated actress never seems to settle on any particular style (except maybe for tiered ruffles), which makes it all the more fun for us whenever she hits the red carpet — we just never know what to expect (and that’s a good thing). Besides, who else could pull off a band-geek chic look better than Mara?
Even when Ronan, nominated for her performance in Brooklyn, is all glammed up on the red carpet, she still manages to keep it laid-back and cool — never too frilly. But hey, when you’ve got piercing blue eyes like hers, you don’t need too many other details to capture people’s attention.
The Great Dame does what she wants when it comes to her red-carpet style — and it works. Whether it’s stepping out in a school girl-like uniform (as seen above when she attended the School of Rock musical on opening night) or wearing a pink fascinator (at the Trumbo screening during the London Film Festival), Mirren always dresses with confidence.
If we had a toned figure like the Emmy-winning actress — who is nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in American Crime — we’d show off our backs too (as King did during the Emmys red carpet in September). When she’s not workin‘ that back, King continues to shine in sleek pantsuits and hip-hugging patterned gowns.
