Aaron Paul will star in the suspense drama The Parts You Lose, to be helmed by Dutch director Paula van der Oest. The project will reunite the actor with Mark Johnson, one of the executive producers on Breaking Bad.
Myriad Pictures is handling international sales at the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes.
The film, written by Darren Lemke (Jack the Giant Slayer), is expected to be a Germany-Canada co-production that will begin shooting in Manitoba, Canada, in the last quarter of this year.
Parts tells the story of Wesley, an 8-year-old hearing-impaired boy who encounters an injured and potentially dangerous fugitive in his small North Dakota town. The two form an unlikely friendship as Wesley finds an unexpected refuge from the troubles of his home and school life.
It will be produced by Johnson and Tom Williams through their Gran Via Productions. Paul, repped by UTA, will produce through his company, Lucid Road Productions. Buffalo Gal Pictures will be the Canadian co-producer, with Buffalo Gal’s Phyllis Laing and Rhonda Baker producing. Myriad president and CEO Kirk D’Amico and Pacific Northwest Pictures’ Emily Alden will executive produce. Pacific Northwest Pictures will distribute the film in Canada.
“This extraordinarily original script really caught our attention. We are so pleased to be working with such a strong production team headed by Mark Johnson and Tom Williams, and with director Paula van der Oest, who will bring her unique vision to this film,” D’Amico said.
