Adam Stotsky is adding E! president to his title.
In a series of ongoing corporate moves at NBCUniversal’s cable entertainment group, the Esquire Network president and former E! general manager will add unscripted programming and development for the pop culture network to his purview. He will continue to report to lifestyle networks president Frances Berwick and oversee all day-to-day operations of the network, including news, digital, marketing, communications, research and acquisitions. Scripted responsibilities at the net will be left to Bill McGoldrick, who was recently tasked with managing scripted development across the NBCU cable entertainment portfolio.
“Adam is an exceptional senior executive who has been successful in leading the teams at E! and Esquire Network and setting their strategic direction for future growth,” Berwick said in a statement Thursday. “I am excited to announce his well-deserved promotion and expand his responsibilities at E! as we continue to build on our success as a multiplatform powerhouse offering exclusive access to celebrity lifestyles and the world of entertainment.”
Stotsky added E! to his responsibilities in 2014, as part of a larger shake-up that moved the entire lifestyle business under Berwick. In the year and a half since, the network has looked to build out its programming brand beyond the Kardashian siblings. Though still within the family, the network’s biggest pop has come from I Am Cait, which premiered to tremendous hype in summer 2015 and has since been renewed. E! has also integrated E!’s news and digital divisions, a project overseen by Stotsky that has proved fruitful with E! News registering viewership gains of 14 percent, year over year, among the core 18-49 demographic.
The NBCUniversal veteran is perhaps better known for his management role at Esquire, which he has run since its transition from Style in 2013. In that position, he’s looked to build out the male-skewing lifestyle network with a mix of scripted and unscripted programming aimed at a more upscale audience that’s internally billed as “the modern man.” Prior to that, Stotsky served as GM for G4 and, before that, NBC Entertainment’s president of marketing. Earlier in his career, he held senior marketing positions at another NBCUniversal Cable outlet, Syfy, most recently as executive vp global brand strategy and market development.
The news comes two weeks after several of Stotsky’s colleagues were moved into new roles as part of a company-wide reorganization under NBCU Cable Entertainment Group chairwoman Bonnie Hammer. Former USA president Chris McCumber will now oversee the entertainment networks group, which includes USA as well as Syfy, Chiller and Cloo, while former Syfy president Dave Howe moves into a strategy and growth position at the network group. Berwick, whose big bump came a year and a half ago, added kids network Sprout to her portfolio of Esquire, E!, Bravo and Oxygen.
