YouTube network Fullscreen has tapped digital media veteran Michael Goldfine to head its original programming initiative as chief content officer. In the new role he will oversee the development and production of scripted and unscripted content.
Goldfine, who began his career in television, was president of AEG Digital Media from 2008 to 2012. He then started RockStream Studios, a digital media company focused on direct-to-consumer productions including Camp Takota, a film starring Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart and Fullscreen’s Grace Helbig.
“Michael brings years of production experience, a contagious entrepreneurial spirit and a unique understanding of digital talent to Fullscreen,” said Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos. “We are thrilled to join forces with someone as passionate about the future of entertainment as we are.”
Goldfine added that “with Fullscreen’s resources, talented team and vast network, it’s a perfect place to continue to change the way content is made and distributed.”
Fullscreen, which was acquired by The Chernin Group and AT&T’s Otter Media in September, has recently placed a bigger emphasis on original programming, announcing in June that it would invest $10 million in original programming from its roster of creators, which includes Lohanthony, Devin Supertramp and group Our Second Life.
