Alex Garcia of AG Studios will be feted with the visionary award at Winston Baker’s inaugural Los Cabos Film Investor Summit.
The two-day event, running Nov. 10-11, is the next in a series of film financing conferences hosted by Winston Baker around the world. The summit runs in conjunction with the 2016 Los Cabos International Film Festival.
“Alex Garcia represents every facet of this award and is one of the most prolific entrepreneurs, investors and entertainment executives in Latin America’s recent history,” said Katherine Winston, co-founder of Winston Baker. “He has been an influential figure in film, television, music, intellectual property, and beyond working tirelessly on so many remarkable ventures around the world.”
Garcia is one of the most prolific movie producers and film financiers in Latin America, where his holding company, AG Studios, has numerous interests in the entertainment business. He’s been recognized for contributing to the growth of local industries by funding projects and creating jobs in production and distribution throughout Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador and Cuba.
Last year, Garcia and former CAA agent Laura Walker launched AG Capital, a film financing venture supporting both English-language and Spanish-language films, including Jonas Cuaron’s Desierto, now playing in theaters.
Sponsors of the Winston Baker summit include The Hollywood Reporter, IM Global, Vine Alternative Investments and Akin Gump.
