From last year’s AMAs, viewers might remember Lady Gaga and R Kelly‘s presidential duet or Miley Cyrus‘ crying space cat, but what about the antics of the night’s host, Pitbull? Below is a brief recap of the “Fireball” singer’s notable 2013 moments as the artist preps to return for the show on Sunday.
? Pitbull’s Tour of Contemporary Dance History
After Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance, twerking officially dethroned Gangnam Style for the dance of the moment. But, during his opening monologue, Mr. 305 wanted to take us through the some of the less-televised dance moves of the past decade. So, with the help of four dancers in black unitards, Pitbull showed network television what it had been missing, including the Tootsie Roll, Doo Doo Brown dance and hydraulics.
? His “Timber” Performance with Ke$ha
At the beginning of his first verse, Pitbull emerged from a giant gold orb, flanked by two back-up dancers. Ke$ha wore denim cut-offs and a paisley button-up to fit the country western motif of the pop song, while Pitbull opted for his classic South Beach style. It had everything you have come to expect from a Pitbull performance: scantily clad women, scantily clad women dancing, and Pitbull’s signature laugh.
? Pitbull’s Favorite AMA Moment
In an interview with Good Morning America, the morning after the awards show, Pitbull told Lara Spencer that his favorite moment of the 2013 AMA’s was Jennifer Lopez‘s tribute to salsa great Celia Cruz (“Queen of Salsa”), in an epic performance that saw J.Lo make three costume changes.
