The Office’s Ed Helms hosted NBC’s Saturday Night Live last night, and the comedian called up a few funny friends to join him for the night.
The task: Making real-life versions of the 2D action heroes in Robert Smigel’s popular cartoon sketch, “Ambiguously Gay Duo.”
Everything appeared normal at first, but when a “flesh ray” goes out of control, the cartoon duo – along with every other regular character in the cartoon series – transform into their human aliases. Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon act out Ace and Gary, stopping the spread of evil from mad scientists Stephen Colbert, Helms and his former Office castmate, Steve Carell.
This was Helms’ first time hosting SNL, while musical guest Paul Simon came back for his eighth appearance.
