Kelly Clarkson and Pink opened Sunday night’s American Music Awards with a tribute to those who have been affected by 2017’s numerous disasters, from this year’s hurricanes to the Las Vegas shooting. In their first-ever joint performance, the two sang R.E.M’s “Everybody Hurts” as images of first responders played behind them.
Jamie Foxx introduced the duo alongside his daughter, and personally thanked firefighters, police and paramedics who “ran towards danger” as a number of first responders gathered on the stage beside him.
The 45th annual AMAs are being broadcast on ABC from L.A.’s Microsoft Theater.
