Andy Cohen is going to be a dad.
The Bravo personality revealed that he is expecting a baby via surrogate at the end of his Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday.
“I’ve always tried to be as transparent as possible about my life,” Cohen said in front of his guests, including Real Housewives stars Kyle Richards, NeNe Leakes and Teresa Giudice, among others, during his final broadcast of 2018. “I overshare and I expect everyone around me to do the same and tonight I want you to be the first to know that after many years of careful deliberation, fair amount of prayers and the benefit of science, if all goes according to plan, in about six weeks time, I’m going to become a father thanks to a wonderful surrogate who is carrying my future.”
Continued the host, “Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something I’ve wanted in my heart for my entire life and though it has taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be the most rewarding chapter yet.”
Cohen, 50, went on to say that he is excited to share his journey to parenthood with Bravo fans. “To the viewers at home, I call you my friends at home because we are friends. You have supported me through almost 10 years night after night,” he added. “This has been an incredible, joyous journey with you all. I am grateful to live my dream everyday and grateful to you for coming along for the ride. I don’t take any of it for granted.”
Following the show, Cohen celebrated with Richards and several other Housewives at a New York bar. “It’s afterparty time with big daddy! Big daddy-to-be,” Richards exclaimed on her Instagram story. John Mayer, Kelly Ripa, Laverne Cox, Hoda Kotb, Anderson Cooper and more of Cohen’s famous friends later took to social media to congratulate the dad-to-be.
The baby announcement comes weeks after CNN revealed that Cohen will be joining Cooper in co-hosting the network’s New Year’s Eve celebration for the second year in a row. The position was previously held by Kathy Griffin, who was fired from her post in 2017 after her Trump photo scandal.
