APA has promoted Jim Osborne to partner, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. He will also keep his current title as vice president of talent.
“Jim is one of the best talent agents in the business,” said APA president and CEO Jim Gosnell in a statement. “His taste, talent and tenacity to service his clients is second to none, and I’m incredibly proud to have him as part of our team.”
A member of THR’s 2004 Next Gen class, Osborne began his career in the ICM mailroom and eventually landed at Ed Limato’s desk. After becoming an agent himself, Osborne worked closely with Limato on such clients as Matthew McConaughey, Richard Gere, Paul Walker and Denzel Washington. In 2005 he signed Gary Oldman and his producing partner Douglas Urbanski and their banner, Flying Studios. Oldman and Urbanski followed Osborne to APA in 2011.
“Jim is perhaps the most talented agent I have met; he patiently understands the mysteries of building lasting value for clients — very rare indeed,” said Urbanski in a statement. “Gary and I could not be more proud and happy for Jim in the news of today’s announcement.” In April, Osborne helped broker Flying Studios’ deal with the Truman Capote estate and The Weinstein Company for an event series adaptation of In Cold Blood.
Osborne’s other clients at APA include Lucas Till, Isabel Lucas, Kim Basinger, Heather Locklear, Shay Mitchell, Cole Hauser, Jennifer Beals, Tory Kittles, George Eads and Bonnie Somerville.
