Jobs added video to the company’s popular iTunes software in 2006. “We’re doing for video what we’ve done for music—we’re making it easy and affordable to purchase and download, play on your computer, and take with you on your iPod. Right out of the gate we’re offering 2,000 music videos, Pixar’s short films and hit primetime TV shows like ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Lost’,” said Jobs.

MEXICO CITY — Apple announced on Tuesday the launch of its iTunes Store in Brazil and 15 additional Latin American nations.
The iTunes catalogue in Brazil, which has arrived in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, features more than 20 million songs, including music from local favorites Marisa Monte and Grammy winner Roberto Carlos.
The music offering consists of talent represented by Sony, EMI, Universal and Warner, as well as recording artists on thousands of independent labels.
The Brazil iTunes Store also has upward of 1,000 films available online for rental or purchase, with titles from 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal, Disney and Warner Bros.
Among other key markets in the Latin America rollout are Argentina, Chile and Colombia.
The iTunes Store launch comes on the heels of a massive expansion in the region by Netflix. The streaming service recently bowed in 43 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, making its Portuguese-language debut in Brazil in September. Both Netflix and iTunes also offer their services here in Mexico.
