Ariana Grande’s first fragrance, ARI, isn’t due to arrive in stores until September, but we got a good whiff of it at the Republic Records MTV Video Music Awards afterparty Sunday night — courtesy of her brother.
To make the scene at West Hollywood nightspot Ysabel, where Grande’s extended posse included manager Scooter Braun and boyfriend Ricky Alvarez, Frankie Grande splashed on the scent as a tease of his sister’s upcoming projects. Leaning in, he invited Billboard to simply “smell.”
Now we’re no perfumeologists, but a quick sample had a distinct fruity feel with a hint of autumn. Think: bonfire with s’mores on a chilly October night or a long stroll in a damp forest.
In announcing the fragrance back in July, Grande described ARI as “beautiful, feminine, and flirty all at the same time.” Its bottle comes affixed with a pom-pom that the singer noted “is just an added wink that makes me smile every time I use the fragrance.”
Grande debuted an ad for the scent Aug. 6 that shows her tugging on a trio of Dalmatians.
ARI by Ariana Grande, one of several fragrances the singer is expected to roll out in the coming years, is a partnership with LUXE Brands and Designer Parfums and is due to launch concurrently in the U.S. and international markets.
