Ariana Grande just broke her silence about the post-concert explosion that left at least 22 dead and 59 injured outside the U.K.’s Manchester Arena, and now her management team has issued a statement to Billboard about the “senseless attack.”
“Tonight, our hearts are broken,” the statement reads. “Words cannot express our sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless attack.”
“We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act,” the statement continues. “We are thankful for the selfless service tonight of Manchester’s first responders who rushed towards danger to help save lives. We ask all of you to hold the victims, their families, and all those affected in your hearts and prayers.”
For her part, Grande tweeted a short statement Monday night, saying she was “broken” by the attack.
broken.

On Monday night around 10:35 p.m. local time, reports of an explosion in the foyer area outside Manchester Arena hit Twitter. A rep for Grande assured Billboard that the pop star was “okay,” but Greater Manchester Police released a statement a short time later confirming that there were, indeed, fatalities and injuries at the venue.
During a press conference early Tuesday morning, police said the blast is being treated as a likely “terrorist incident.” CNN is reporting that an official says the explosion was a suicide bombing.
Later on Tuesday, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the suicide attack that has left 22 people dead and 59 injured.
