A suspected arsonist is on the loose in Los Angeles County with firefighters in hot pursuit, The Associated Press reported.
Early Friday morning, nearly a dozen fires were reported in parts of West Hollywood and Hollywood: the majority of the alleged arson attacks were on parked cars, from which flames spread to homes and apartment buildings, said the AP.
According to CBS’ L.A. affiliate news station, firefighters snuffed out each blaze in a matter of minutes; one firefighter received minor injuries while containing a fire on North Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Other early-morning targets: the former home of Jim Morrison on Kirkwood Drive, and four cars — now permanently damaged — at a two-story apartment building on Cahuenga Boulevard.

There were no civilian injuries; although, dozens of people — no doubt in a horrified state of shock — were stirred from their homes and power went out in some neighborhoods. The LAPD was put on tactical alert.
Meanwhile, Samuel Arrington — a 22-year-old man arrested in connection with setting three fires on Sunset Boulevard Thrusday morning — remains in police custody, along with another unidentified man. According to the Los Angeles Times, police are not certain whether Thursday and Friday’s spate of 19 arson attacks was the mark of a copycat or if they took in the wrong person.
