The folks behind the Atlas Shrugged movies said Tuesday the company they set up to distribute the second and third films from their trilogy has now become a distribution entity for films beyond the politically charged franchise.
Harmon Kaslow and John Aglialoro said their company, Atlas Distribution, has struck its first deal outside of Atlas Shrugged and will distribute The Road to Capri in North America in 2015.
The Road to Capri is about a couple of young men, one an American and another an Italian, who discover they share the same biological father and that he has bequeathed to them an equal share of his home on the isle of Capri.
Atlas Distribution’s next release, though, is Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt, the third installment of the trilogy based on Ayn Rand‘s 1957 novel, Atlas Shrugged. The movie is set to open Sept. 12.
While the Atlas Shrugged movies have an obvious political and philosophical bent to them, Kaslow says that such messaging isn’t necessarily what Atlas Distribution is looking for.
“We want under-the-radar, commercial films with an identifiable, reachable audience,” Kaslow said. In that way, Atlas Distribution can save money on marketing through direct communication and targeted, online advertising.
In the case of The Road to Capri, one group they’ll target is auto enthusiasts, and Fiat has been lined up as a partner.
The movie will be produced by Max Czertok of Emovies and Boris Damast and Andrea Kikot of Mechaniks, a production company. Executive producers include Stephen Kaplan and Daniel Zirilli of Rainstorm Entertainment.
