COLOGNE, Germany – Australian broadcaster SBS has picked up rights to dramedy Lilyhammer starring E Street musician and Sopranos actor Steven Van Zandt as a gangster sent to Norway on the witness protection program.
SBS plans to premiere the fish-out-of-water tale in Australia in August on its SBS Two network.
Lilyhammer scored record ratings with its Norwegian premiere on public broadcaster NRK1 in January. Netflix picked up the series for online streaming in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Latin America. Netflix is on board for the second season of Lilyhammer, for which it will also act as a co-producer.
SevenOne International, which is handling world sales for the title, previously signed distribution deals for Lilyhammer with BBC4 in the U.K. and Groupe AB in France.
