Currently finding a new fanbase courtesy of Netflix, Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender will continue in comic book form with a new graphic novel, announced for early 2021, centering on one of the most popular characters from the show: the blind earthbender, Toph Beifong.
Avatar: The Last Airbender — Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy opens with Toph finding life as head of the Beifong Metalbending Academy surprisingly dull, but things change — and get far more exciting — when old friends Sokka and Suki arrive to visit, bringing some familiar faces with them.
Described by publisher Dark Horse as “the ultimate continuation” of the animated series, Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy is written by Faith Erin Hicks (The Nameless City) with input from animated series writer Tim Hedrick, with artwork from Peter Wartman and colors by Adele Matera.
Avatar: The Last Airbender — Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy will be released Feb. 16, 2021, and is available for preorder today.
