Lady Gaga is in good company as one of the stars of Barneys New York’s new campaign, posing alongside music mavens Patti Smith and Cyndi Lauper. Called “Our Town,” the new campaign is seen as a celebration of New York City in honor of the retailer’s newest flagship store in Chelsea. Lensed by the legendary Bruce Weber, the black and white campaign also features Helmut Lang, Yoko Ono and more famous, fashionable New Yorkers. [Fashionista]
Azzedine Alaia laid the rumors of Phoebe Philo’s appointment as the new creative director to rest following The Fashion Law’s speculative report on Thursday. Vogue Runway editor Alexander Fury tweeted a release from the Richemonte-owned brand, which reads that Alaia “formally denies any rumors related to the change in creative direction of the Maison Alaia.” [Twitter]

Netflix has ordered a comedy series based on Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso’s best-selling autobiography about her journey to success, #Girlboss. Charlize Theron and Pitch Perfect producer Kay Cannon will serve as executive producers on the show about Amoruso’s colorful past. It’s interesting timing for a new show, considering Nasty Gal laid off 10 percent of its staff on Wednesday as part of its “company-wide restructuring.” In 2014, the company had another significant round of layoffs, and in 2015 Nasty Gal was sued for allegedly terminating pregnant employees.
