The event: Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama, a star-studded event which included Backstreet Boys as performers, was held Thursday night at Downtown L.A.’s Orpheum Theatre to help raise funds for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). The organization, founded in 1983, is devoted to serving individuals affected by HIV/AIDS with care and prevention programs. The annual show, which was titled “Fashion In A New Light,” traveled to Minneapolis and Chicago in August, and will also make its way to San Francisco on Sept. 19 to support another local charity.

The scene: Those showing support for the cause included Disney’s Shake It Up! star Bella Thorne, Short Term 12 actress Brie Larson, E! correspondent Catt Sadler, Teen Wolf actress Bianca Lawson, True Blood‘s Bailey Noble and Dancing With the Stars season 17 castmember Corbin Bleu, just to name a few.
Taking the stage inside the historical venue was Academy Award-winning actress and devoted AIDs activist Sharon Stone, who shared a personal story about an AIDS-positive diagnosed individual who thanked her for her commitment to fight against the deadly disease. In return, Stone told the crowd, “He said thank you to me, but he was thanking you. He was thanking each and every one of you that shows up, that does your best, that gives — that gives from heart, gives without judgment, but with compassion.”
STORY: BMG Signs Backstreet Boys for Publishing, Recordings
The sounds: Before A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson of Backstreet Boys brought the audience to their feet, Glamorama kicked things off with an impressive juggling act from the Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil show, Zarkana.
Models then hit the stage, showing off fall collections from Calvin Klein, Rachel Rachel Roy, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend Max Mara, Macy’s latest line Maison Jules, and Diesel, which got the crowd cheering since the male models revealed nothing but bulging muscles and six-packs by only wearing the Italian label’s briefs. In between the runway presentations, the band Summer Set rocked out to their single, “Boomerang.”
After a few more fall fashion previews, Backstreet Boys wooed the crowd by beginning with one of their classic hits, “As Long As You Love Me.” The boys continued to make their female fans scream as they performed new tracks, “Love Somebody,” and “In a World Like This” from their latest album of the same title. Serenading the crowd with their last song of the night, “I Want It That Way,” Backstreet Boys had the audience singing along and helping everyone end their night in style.
