TORONTO – Henry Winkler is to receive an award of excellence at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival.
Winkler, best known for playing the Fonz on Happy Days as well as his roles on Arrested Development and Royal Pains, will be feted for his 40 years in entertainment.
“The award is in recognition of his inspiring work both on the TV screen, and in making the world a more entertaining place for future generations,” Ferne Cohen, the Banff fest’s executive director, said in a statement Wednesday.
Winkler will receive the honor at the annual Rockie Awards Gala on June 10. Past honorees of the award of excellence include Walter Cronkite, Nigel Lythgoe, Eugene Levy, Victor Garber and William Shatner.
The 35th edition of the Banff World Media Festival is set to run from June 8 to 11 in the Canadian Rockies.
