BermanBraun said Thursday it has purchased most of the assets of Whiskey Media, a digital company from Shelby Bonnie, who was cofounder and former CEO of CNET.
Whiskey Media consists of five Web sites, though the deal calls for just three to go to BermanBraun, the multimedia company founded by Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun.
Under the terms of the deal, financial details of which were not disclosed, BermanBraun gets movie and TV database Screened, technology-review site Tested and anime and manga comics site Anime Vice.
A gaming site called Giant Bomb has been sold to CBS Interactive, according giantbomb.com, and published reports suggest Comic Vine, a comic book database, will also go to CBS Interactive.
The three sites join BermanBraun’s growing stable of digital properties, which includes Wonderwall, a celebrity news site, and GLO, a women’s lifestyle site. With partner AOL, BermanBraun also is launching three sites this year focusing on men, weather and pets.
“With the addition of Whiskey’s first-rate team and powerful, state-of-the-art publishing, data and social tools platform, we will be able to further enhance our user experience and engagement, and provide our advertising partners with unparalleled data insights,” Berman and Braun said in a joint statement.
