LONDON – The British Film Institute has created a role of director of partnerships and given the position to Eddie Berg, the organization’s artistic director, BFI Southbank.
Berg gets the fresh gig after seeing his old one merged with the role of London Film Festival artistic director duties.
Current LFF artistic director Sandra Hebron is exiting after this year’s festival in October this year.
She is to be replaced by former Sydney Film Festival director Clare Stewart who also takes on Berg’s old role at BFI Southbank.
In his new role, Berg will be charged with enhancing the BFI’s “reputation for cultural and commercial innovation both nationally and internationally.”
He takes up the reins in September this year, leading the partnerships and new business opportunities teams, reporting to BFI deputy chief executive Tim Cagney.
Berg has held the role of artistic director, BFI Southbank, since 2005, and has been responsible for the expansion of the National Film Theatre into the BFI Southbank.
