His album Tha Carter IV was the biggest debut of the year, moving nearly a million units in its first week, and Lil Wayne did big numbers on the road, too. His 69 shows racked in $46 million.

Electronic Arts will kick off Super Bowl XLVII festivities in New Orleans on Jan. 31 with a night of video games, celebrities and music at the Bud Light Hotel. Madden Bowl XIX will feature performances by Vintage Trouble, Big Boi and Lil Wayne. DJ Mick Boogie will provide music throughout the festivities.
“Madden Bowl is a cool bookend to the Madden NFL 13 season,” said Anthony Stevenson, senior director of marketing for EA Sports. “What’s unique about Madden is that athletes want to be entertainers, and entertainers want to be athletes. Lil Wayne raps about Madden all the time, and he’s done stuff with the soundtrack. Madden Bowl allows these two groups get together and share a common interest of Madden and gaming. Last year, Drew Brees was on the railing going crazy for Snoop Dogg at Madden Bowl XVIII.”
Brees is back for this year’s Madden Bowl, where he’ll be joined by New Orleans Saints teammates Jimmy Graham and Mark Ingram. Brees and Graham, along with Tim Tebow, won last year’s Madden Bowl in Indianapolis.
“It was lucky,” said Brees. “We were going up against Robert Griffin III and a couple of college guys who I’m sure play Madden and video games all the time. I think we were the underdogs, but somehow we managed to beat them right at the end.”
There will be four teams of three NFL players competing in the Madden NFL 13 video game tournament on Xbox 360. The Draftees Team will include former University of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson and ex-Oregon Ducks running back Kenjon Barner. Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz and New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski make up the NFL All-Stars Team. And the Rookie Team will feature running backs Doug Martin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Trent Richardson of the Cleveland Browns.
Last year’s Madden Bowl XVIII featured music by The Roots, Nas and Snoop Dogg.
