Weeks after a New York Times exposé revealed that Bill O’Reilly had paid out millions of dollars in settlements to women who accused him of sexual harassment, the host is parting ways with Fox News, parent company 21st Century Fox confirmed on Wednesday.
“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,” a statement read.
The O’Reilly Factor host’s exit comes one year after former Fox News chief Roger Ailes stepped down amid sexual harassment claims. O’Reilly has been with the news channel for over two decades.
Shortly following the announcement from Fox, critics and fellow newscasters took to social media to blast the host and share their reaction to his ouster. Former Fox News host Glenn Beck predicted the end of the news channel to his radio audience on Wednesday.
While other news networks blanketed the airwaves and Twitter with updates on the story, Fox News itself has yet to address O’Reilly’s exit on social media.
See how O’Reilly’s critics reacted on social media below.
Bye, Bill O’Reilly. Don’t let the door grab your pussy on the way out.
