Bill Rancic has signed a development deal with Marriott’s Content Studio to co-create programming and content in the small-business, travel and food and beverage arenas exclusively for the multimedia platform.
Marriott launched the studio in September 2014 in order to dedicate create content for “next-generation travelers” that “build worldwide communities of people passionate about travel.”
As part of the deal with Rancic, Marriott’s Content Studio has already greenlighted two projects for Rancic. One is a travel documentary that will be set in Venice, Italy, and document as Rancic and his family eat, drink and travel their way through the city while making their journey to the J.W. Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, perched on the private island of Isola delle Rose. (Rancic is married to Giuliana Rancic; they have a young son named Duke.)
With Rancic already owning and operating restaurants in Chicago and set to open up his third eatery, RPM Italian, in Washington DC this month, he also will begin a six-part shortform digital series in which he travels through the heart of America to help up-and-coming restaurants and small businesses succeed.
Beginning production in this summer, both shows are slated for a global, multiplatform premiere in fall 2016 via a multiplatform distribution strategy, including digital video platforms, owned channels including Marriott.com, in-room and partner channels. Throughout production, Rancic & Marriott’s social media platforms will share behind-the-scenes content in real-time from the following two projects.
“Partnering with Bill is just the latest example of how we’re thinking beyond the guest room and reaching guests directly with entertaining and impactful content,” said David Beebe, vp global creative and content marketing for Marriott International. “Bill has been a success in numerous walks of life, and we’re thrilled to have him share his stories and shed a new light on some of our properties in-person and on-air.”
Rancic also is expected to take part in speaking engagements and events across Marriott’s 19 hotel brands.
“The stories I’ve heard and developed motivated me to pursue my passion of sharing them with the world while creating new ones and making a positive impact,” said Rancic. “I couldn’t think of a better partner for this than Marriott, who is letting me tell these stories in my own voice and with my own creative spin.”
Rancic is known for winning the first season of The Apprentice and for his E!/Style reality show Guiliana and Bill, in which he starred with his wife. He also co-hosted America Now with Leeza Gibbons.
