Beloved Oscars host Billy Crystal made a special appearance mid-way through the 83rd annual Academy Awards Sunday.
“Wow,” he told the audience as they applauded thunderously. “So, where was I?”

Crystal, who hasn’t hosted the show since 2004, then said, “Some things never change: The producers asked me to say we’re running a little long… so here are the nominees for best picture…”
The crowd laughed.
Crystal was actually there to introduce a segment looking back at the first Oscars and the days when Bob Hope was host.

Hope (who began hosting in the 1940s) was projected hologram-like at the podium.
Crystal praised Hope – who hosted the show a total of 18 times – and said he did a better job than him when it came to hosting the big show. Said Crystal, “I hosted it eight and was pooped after two.”
